Purpose

Responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating Expanded Program of Immunization (EPI) Programs in collaboration with health services, finance, Regional Medical Officer (RMOs) and Health Management Information System (HMIS). Ensure that relevant Expanded Program of Immunization (EPI) policy, strategy and procedures are officially endorsed and disseminated to all related stakeholders.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Prepare Plans, implement, manage and evaluate for the national EPI Program in collaboration with Health services CDC, finance, RMOs and Planning/HMIS.
  • Works with EPI to identify if mass immunization may be required.
  • Ensures that relevant EPI policy, strategy and procedures are officially endorsed and disseminated to all related stakeholders.
  • Ensures that standardized trainings on EPI are included in pre-service training curricula and that health workers involved in EPI work are appropriately trained.
  • Ensures the effective functioning of the EPI cold chain at all levels of health services including equipment, materials and supplies and their maintenance.
  • Works with central and regional medical stores to ensure sufficient reserves stocks of EPI materials.
  • Ensures effective and accurate collection of EPI data for inclusion in HMIS for generation of reports and monitoring and evaluation purposes and ensures reports are shared with EPI staff at all levels of health service for feedback.
  • Works with Planning Directorate and relevant stakeholders and partners to identify areas requiring research on EPI.
  • Undertakes any other necessary tasks required by the head of public health related to strengthening the functioning of the department
  • Development of EPI strategic and annual master plans, implement and evaluate their progress.
  • Development of EPI policy, strategies and procedures, share with partners, implements and coordinate properly in order to upgrade the coverage
  • Ensures that relevant EPI policy, strategy and procedures are officially endorsed and disseminated to all related stakeholders.

Requirements; Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Diploma in Health Science; Public health, Nurse or other related field.
  • 2 years’ experience in Health Service administration, EPI and GAVI Programs

 

Knowledge and Competence

  • Compiles Immunization project implementation training and orientation materials, and shares useful and appropriate information to promote knowledge sharing with donors and media.
  • Experience with design of experiment techniques and data analysis
  • Demonstrated knowledge to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to react to shifting priorities to meet needs.
  • Effective communication, networking and collaboration are achieved with internal and external partners.
  • Progress reports and project work plans are timely prepared, and effective technical support is provided in the drafting of annual and other reports/project documentation related to EPI.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, energetic and self-starter
  • Demonstrated ability to work well within a global cross functional team or environment.
